Who runs this site

vdan.cz is a personal technical blog run by Daniel Micanek, Czech Republic. I am the controller of any personal data processed on this site. You can contact me through LinkedIn.

What data is processed and why

Visit statistics

I use WP Statistics, which runs on this site’s own server, to see which articles are read. IP addresses are anonymized before they are stored, no analytics cookies are set, and the data is not shared with anyone. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in knowing which content is useful (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Hosting and security

The site is hosted by WEDOS Internet, a.s. in the Czech Republic and protected by its WEDOS.protection service. Like every web server, they process your IP address and browser details in technical logs to deliver the pages and block attacks. Backups of the site are stored on WEDOS servers only. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running a secure website.

Comments

Comments are closed, so no comment data is collected.

Cookies

Visitors only get one functional cookie, which remembers whether you opened or closed the table of contents in an article. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. WordPress sets its standard login cookies only for the site administrator.

Third-party services

  • Gravatar (Automattic): the author photo is loaded from gravatar.com, so your IP address is sent to Automattic. See the Automattic privacy policy.
  • jsDelivr: the 3D view of the interactive mindmaps uses a library hosted on this site. Only if that copy fails to load is it fetched from the jsDelivr CDN.
  • Links to other sites (vendor documentation, Credly, vExpert and others) are ordinary links. Those sites have their own privacy policies once you open them.

AI tools

I use AI tools (Claude by Anthropic) to help draft, edit and structure articles, for SEO work, and to build the interactive mindmaps. Only my own texts and public documentation are sent to these tools. No visitor data is sent to them. Every article is reviewed by me, and commands and procedures are checked against vendor documentation or tested in a lab.

How long data is kept

Anonymized statistics are kept for as long as they are useful for the blog. Server logs and backups are kept for the retention periods set by the hosting provider.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Contact me through LinkedIn. You can also lodge a complaint with the Czech data protection authority, Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů.
